A prominent leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ethiope East LGA of Delta State and President of Urhobo Social Club, Lagos (USCL) , Chief Wilson Okpubigho has dissociated himself from the content of a Vanguard Newspaper advertorial dated November 22, 2024 .
The publication criticized and condemned the solidarity visit of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Executive led by Barr Ese Gam to immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa over his recent ordeal with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) .
The publication had the signature of Chief Wilson Okpubigho among others as authours. But in a rebuttal, Chief Wilson Okpubigho who is presently in the United States said he was not consulted neither was his consent to co-authour the publication sought, alleging that his signature was super imposed on the said publication.
According to him, all signatories to the publication except himself are members and leaders of the All Peoples’ Congress (APC) in Delta Central. He said as president of Urhobo Social Club, Lagos he did not need to partner with a group of persons before making a public statement on issues of public interest and therefore called on his political associates to disregard the erroneous impression created by the publication.
