Oborevwori warns petroleum marketers against hoarding, price hike

Spynewsmedia May 31, 2023

Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State

By Jon Egie

Delta State governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has ordered petroleum marketers operating in the State to immediately open their vaults and sell fuel to citizens without any form of mischief, warning that any attempt by the marketers to continue hoarding and sales of (Premium Motor Spirit) PMS above the stipulated price will not be tolerated.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Sir Festus Ahon decried the attitude of the marketers which is aimed at making life difficult and unbearable for citizens, an anti climax of the agenda of the Oborevwori’s administration.

Accordingly, the governor solicited the support of all Stakeholders in the effort of the new government to make life meaningful for Deltans in tandem with the governor’s desire to grow the State economy through the MORE Agenda

The governor said he has been inundated with reports and cries of citizens moaning about petroleum marketers who have decided to hoard PMS in their filling stations with attendant hike in price of the product, in response to the removal of subsidy by President Bola Tinubu, and thereby creating artificial scarcity and causing untold hardship on citizens of the State.

“The Delta State Governor views the action of these marketers as unpatriotic and waging of economic war against the people of the State.

“As a government, we will not watch marketers exploit Deltans of their hard earned income through creation of artificial scarcity.

” We call on marketers to be patriotic and continue selling their products to the general public at the official pump price.”

The governor warned that relevant government agencies have been directed to monitor the situation and ensure total compliance with the directive.

” We will not hesitate to take necessary action against any filling station hoarding the product or who is caught selling above the official price.” The statement added.
