Orosuen of Okere Urhobo: Otota, others dispute Eraivor’s claims

The Otota of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, High Chief ( retired Brigadier General ) Gold Eburu , some heads of the founding families of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, and king makers have disputed the claims of an elder of the the kingdom, Apostle Isaac Mayomi Abilemiren Eraivor on the installation of the Orosuen of the area, HRM Ogheneochuko Morris Eyekpemi Egbogboyen , Owhotemu ( 11) .

The said Apostle Eraivor had in a news item said that he as Okpako rere ( most eldest person in the kingdom ) and the Okere Urhobo people rejected the installation of the new Okere Urhobo monarch on the ground that due process was not followed.

Eburu, the respected retired Nigerian Army General at a well attended press conference at the palace of Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom Edjemudarho Road , Okumagba Avenue off Cinema Site , Warri on Tuesday 25th April, 2023 , painstakingly and lucidly explained how HRM Owhotemu 11 emerged as the new Orosuen of the kingdom.

The Otota of Okere Urhobo Kingdom who stressed that the installation was done according to Okere Urhobo, Delta State laws on crowning of a new king , alleged that Apostle Eraivor who belonged to the same ruling house with the new Okere Urhobo monarch congratulated Owhotemu 11 .

Heads of founding families , Kingmakers and some aspirants to the exalted throne ,who spoke to newsmen shortly after the press conference, corroborated the statements of the traditional spokesman of Okere Urhobo Kingdom.

Some of them alleged that Apostle Eraivor had been antagonistic to lawful traditionally crowned tradititioal rulers that were installed in the kingdom right from inception.

One of the king makers , Chief Edgar Eraivor noted that the claims of his elder brother were misleading and therefore could cause crisis in the kingdom.

He also alleged that the said Apostle Isaac Eraivor had not been tradititioally installed as the Okpako rere ( most eldest person ) of Okere Urhobo Kingdom.

The respondents, like the Otota of Okere Urhobo Kingdom then urged government and the general public to ignore the claims of Apostle Eraivor who they also affirmed has never stepped his feet on the palace of the Orosuen even right from the reign of Ojagbube 1 .

Besides the heads of founding families and Kingmakers , the President General of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Reverend Canon David Otofia , the youth president of the kingdom, Comrade Brume Eyekpimi , some contestants in the Orosuenship tussle and other cross sections of kingdom were present at the press conference..
