The Old Students Association of St Michael’s College (SMC), Oleh have donated N500,000 as part of their efforts aimed at rebuilding part of the fallen perimeter fense of the school.

Presenting a cheque, Monday, in the principal’s office at the school premises, the pioneer set led by Sir Hon. Evans Egbo stated that the donation was made towards addressing the worrisome security situation of the school.

Speaking further on behalf of the home branch and diaspora branches, Sir Evans said the 1988-1993 class deemed it fit to identify with the school and make the donation to complement the school’s and other efforts geared towards rebuilding the damaged fence.

He added that the Association will always indentify with the school in it’s developmental efforts, particularly aimed at creating a safe and conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Reacting to the donation, Mrs. Onojerame Bridget, the Principal of SMC described it as a remarkable feat and promised to deploy the fund judiciously towards the set target.

She solicited for the teachers and the Old students’ support to move the school to an enviable height.

The principal further said that the school has the highest population in the area and proned to students vices but promised to engage the services of vigilante and anticult members to stabilize the school.

Addressing the current students, the team of the Old students charged the students to be dedicated to their studies and not to indulge in acts capable of destroying their future such as cultism and get-rich- quick syndrome in vogue involving rituals, as indulgence in such and other negative vices will only attract generational curses.

The students were also admonished to shun the deceptive idea that education is a scam, adding that without education, no student can make good leadership.

The SMC Old Students charged the current students to always be submissive to the school authority’s tutulage, respect their teachers and other constituted authorities and never to develop hatred towards any of them as such attitude will hamper learning.

Members of the SMC Old Students Association home branch representatives who were in attendance include Sir Hon. Evans Egbo, Amb. Daniel Okpozih and Mrs. Peace Agbidi.

Also present at the brief event were Mr. Daniel Oghoghovbe, Vice Principal, Academics and Mr. Emmanuel Alaita, Vice Principal, Administration
