A truce has been secured after leaders of the two feuding communities of Aladja and Igbe-Ijo signed a peace accord to end the bloody crisis that has claimed two lives over a land dispute.

The truce was secured yesterday at the end of a peace meeting convened and anchored by the Special Adviser to Gov Okowa on peace building and conflict resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor.

The meeting which was held at the Government house annex in Warri had in attendance: Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali,

During the meeting, both communities expressed their displeasure over the ongoing land demacation crisis that has led to the death of one Frank Amakiri aged 36yrs old and one other.

None of the communities took responsibilities for the incident but they admitted that peace was critical for the progress of the two communities.

They disagreed to letting their children inherit the crisis and hence, Chief Uzor assured that the State government will adequately compensate those who lost properties during the boundary demarcation process.

The Peace Accord duly signed by leaders of both feuding communities

In his remake the Commissioner of Police warned that any further escalation of the crisis between both communities will not be treated with levity and whoever is found wanting will be duly prosecuted.

The CP stressed that at the end of the ongoing investigation, those found to be culpable will have their day in court.
