Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have rescued three kidnap victims unharmed.

The successful operation was sequel to credible information provided to the police by good Nigerians that hoodlums dressed in Army Camouflage attacked two vehicles along Ibillo/Ikiran-Ore Road in Akoko-Edo LGA of Edo State, yesterday, at about 7am when the kidnappers emerged from the bush and whisked six passengers from the vehicles into the bush.

Upon receipt of the information, the Divisional Police Officer Ibillo in collaboration with the Military and Vigilantes mobilised and swung into action immediately.

The intensive bush combing yielded results as three of the kidnapped victims; MRS ALICE AUDU ‘F’ 70YRS, MRS ISAIAH RUTH ‘F’ 65YRS, and MR DEJOR ISIAKA 50YRS were rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their families.

At press time, effort was still ongoing to rescue the other three, and neutralise or arrest the fleeing suspects.

Meanwhile, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, fdc, has called on the general public to be vigilant and report any strange person(s) or movement around their communities and environs to the police.

A release issued by the Command’s DPPRO, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, said the CP further reinstated his commitment towards ensuring that Edo State was safe and free of crime, warning, “any one that tries to truncate the peace of the State will be met with stiff resistance.”

The CP further enjoined the good people of Edo State to continue to work with the police by way of availing them with prompt and credible information. The release added.
