Ahead of the All Progressives Congress APC’s National Assembly primary, a political pressure group, Ughelli-Udu Equity Group, UUEG, has appealed to APC delegates to vote for Mrs. Obukome Ibru-Mukoro to emerge as candidate of APC for Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal constituency.
A statement issued on Tuesday in Ughelli, Delta state, and signed by it’s Coordinator, Comrade Endurance Agbro, disclosed that the group’s support for Mrs. Obukome Ibru-Mukoro, APC aspirant for Ughelli North, South and Udu Federal Constituency, is honouring the late father, Olorogun Micheal Ibru, for his contributions toward Urhobo Nation.
” Mrs. Obukome Ibru-Mukoro, is contesting the House of Representatives from Ughelli South Local Government Area, being the place of her marriage. We call on the leaders of All Progressives Congress APC and delegates in the three local government areas to consider a female, Mrs. Obukome Ibru-Mukoro to be the party’s candidate for the 2023 general elections”
” Since 1999, no female has been given the opportunity or elected to represent Ughelli North, South and Udu Federal Constituency. We have elected in the past and sent male to represent our people, and Ughelli North, South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2019. We have also reviewed their performances and records. This time, we should elect a female to represent the federal constituency and our people”.
” We call on our mothers in the Ughelli North, South and Udu federal constituency to help us prevail on our fathers, who are the party leaders to ask the male aspirants to withdraw and support the female aspirants to emerge as candidates”.
Agbro, said ” We are confident that Mrs. Obukome Ibru-Mukoro, if elected into office as member representing Ughelli North, South and Udu federal constituency in 2023, she would exploit her wealth of experience, connections and capacity to bring the desired dividends of democracy to the federal constituency”
” We should give Mrs. Obukome Ibru-Mukoro that opportunity to also contribute to the growth and development in the federal constituency”. The group further pleaded.
