Amb Chief Michael Aristotle Ighofose has indicated interest to join the 2023 governorship race in Delta State to succeed Governor Okowa.
Ighofose is a renowned political big weight and two time governorship candidate in Delta State.
Ighofose, a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress APC, hails from Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta state.
A statement issued by his Special Assistant, Mr. Mike Eyamekuare, on Tuesday at Ughelli, said, ” Amb. Ighofose, a two time governorship candidate of then All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, in Delta state, has succumbed to pressure from friends and political associates in Delta State, Nigeria and abroad to join the Delta state governorship for 2023″.
“Yes Amb. Chief Micheal Ighofose, has accepted and indicated interest to contest the governorship on the platform of All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Delta State, even though he is presently still consulting with relevant leaders and stakeholders before the official declaration”. Eyamekuare noted.
He expressed confidence that should Ighofose declare interest for the governorship race, he is sure to secure the APC governorship ticket at the primary.
” Amb. Chief Michael Ighofose is very familiar and understands the politics in Delta state. He has contested the governorship election in Delta state twice as governorship candidate of then ANPP, at the time President Muhammadu Buhari was then Presidential candidate of ANPP. More so, then, Ighofose facilitated the conferment of Traditional Chieftaincy title ” OWHORODE” on President Muhammadu Buhari by His Royal Majesty, Oharisi III, Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom. Amb. Ighofose also facilitated the visit by President Muhammadu Buhari to the palace of Orodje of Okpe. So, Ighofose is popular, understands the game, qualified and competent to govern Delta state”
” Amb. Ighofose, holds first Degree and Masters Degree in Economics, an astute businessman, with a clear blueprints to transform Delta State. He does not make noise, he is not boastful, he does not make unrealistic promises, but, he has the capacity to redefine what Delta state ought to be as an oil rich state.
” Ighofose, is a native of Ofuoma, an oil producing community in Ughelli North Local Government” he added.
