…. Urges prayers against misgovernance
By Kingsley Abavo, Benin
The All Progressives Congress, (APC), Edo State Chapter has urged Muslims across the State to use the opportunity of the new month of Ramadan to fast, pray and seek spiritual cleansing towards a better Edo with a government that is responsible and accountable to the people.
The State Chairman of the Party, Col. David Imuse rtd. in a statement issued by the Assistant Publicity Secretary, Victor Osehobo, described Ramadan fasting as a soul searching exercise and spiritual turnaround.
Imuse therefore urged the faithful to make good use of the holy month.
The Chairman also reminded them of the need to remain steadfast in imbibing the salient lessons of the Ramadan fast: love, compassion, honesty, piety and peaceful coexistence.
This is as he acknowledged challenges facing the State which he noted were immense, due to Governor Godwin Obaseki’s abandonment of governance.
As he pleaded with shylock market men and women, against the arbitrary hike in the prices of their commodities during or after the Ramadan fast; adding it was against the spirit of the season.
Imuse however congratulated the Muslim Faithful for witnessing yet another Ramadan fast; praying that the lessons and blessings of the Holy Month be internalized.
So that “it positively affects our attitude and promote greater commitment to peace and unity of our State and our country.”
The Ramadan fast is a month-long annual religious ritual in which Muslims are obligated to abstain from food and drinks; and other luxuries from dawn to dusk.
