No life was lost in the Bullion van attack by heavily armed gunmen, today, along Ughelli-Ozoro Expressway at Otor- Owhe in Isoko North LGA.
The Bullion van which was conveying Policemen on UBA Specie Escort from Warri to Asaba, was ambushed by heavily armed gunmen numbering about ten in two Sienna vehicles at about 1045hours along the Ughelli-Ozoro Expressway on their way to transporting cash from Warri to Asaba.
The attack was resisted by Policemen in the escort team and in the ensuing gun battle, one policeman and the driver of the Bullion van sustained bullet wounds.
“However, no life was lost but some of the hoodlums were fatally injured and were taken away by their gang members while the Bullion van was recovered and taken to the Police station.” PPRO to the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe said in a release issued late today.
According to the release, further development on the incident will be communicated to the public as investigation on the attack has commenced and manhunt for the hoodlums is ongoing.
