Two kidnap suspects; Peter Idogor, 24 and Emmanuel Sunday, 19 natives of Evwreni in Ughelli North have been arrested by the police .
The suspects had been linked to the kidnap of a man in Orerokpe on October 10, last year by a gang of three armed men.
The gang later contacted the family of the victim and demanded five million naira ransome.
At that point the DPO of Orerokpo CSP Paul Oboware stepped into the case and mobilised detectives after the suspects. The victim was later released after an undisclosed ransome was paid. But the police did not relent and last week, precisely Tuesday, March 5, two of the 3-man gang were arrested.
A release issued by the Delta State Police Command and signed by the Command’s PPRO, DSP Edafe Bright said investigation on the matter is still ongoing and efforts intensified to arrest the third fleeing member of the gang.
In a related development four suspected cultists have been arrested by Operatives of the Commissioner of Police Decoy Squad in Asaba.
The Operatives acting on credible intelligence stormed the scene of the suspects illegal activities and got four of them arrested after a hot chase.
The suspects, all male residents of Asaba, Delta State, were identified as: Chigozie Edwin, a 28yrs native of Akpuoga Village in Ujodo LGA of Enugu State; James Prince Chukwuebuka, a 20yrs native of Effiom Village in Ezza North LGA of Ebonyi State; Harmony Mkemjika Ohanebum, a 30yrs native of Okija Town in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State; and Garba Jubril, a 27yrs native of Kogmbotō LGA, Kano State.
” Following the arrest of these suspects, a thorough search was conducted, and two Barretta Pistols with two rounds of Live Ammunition, a locally made cut-to-size Gun with one live cartridge, and a were recovered from the ceiling. Manhunt for the other fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.” The release added.
