* 2 Indian Hemp vendors arrestedi in Ozoro

The police in Delta have made further in-road in fight against criminals as two dare-devil armed robbers have fallen to their superior fire power in Otu Jeremi.
The police also recovered the arms used by the armed robbers to terrorize innocent citizens; and in a related development, the crack squad of the Command raided a criminal hideout in Ozoro and arrested two vendors of Indian Hemp in Ozoro.
It has been established that there is a a strong relationship between the use of Indian Hemp and violent crime such as armed robbery.
Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, in a release dated August 31, gave a narrative of the incidents. He said:
“On Saturday, August 28, at about 1730hrs the Divisional patrol team from Otu-Jeremi police station while on stop and search duty along Egbo/Otokutu Road received information that four (4) suspected armed robbers who had earlier snatched two (2) vehicles, a gold coloured Toyota Camry with Reg. no.RSH 291 AW and a custom coloured lexus 350 jeep with Reg. No. WWR 737 KL abandoned the vehicles at Otokutu community due to suspected mechanical faults and were escaping in a tricycle.
” The team swung into action and chased the hoodlums but the gang on sighting the police team opened fire on them and in the ensuing gun battle the hoodlums were forced to abandon the tricycle.
“Two of the hoodlums escaped and ran into the bush while two others were fatally wounded and found in the tricycle with gun shot injuries.
“One Ak47 rifle with breech no. not visible, an empty magazine, a cash sum of two hundred thousand naira(#200,000.00), gold jewelries were recovered.
“The suspects who sustained gunshot injuries were rushed to the hospital where they gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.
“The DPO Otu-jeremi Division again led a combined team of police/vigilante to further comb the bush for the possible arrest of the other fleeing members of the gang but in the process recovered another AK 47 rifle with breach number NK344397 with two magazines and 3 live ammunition.
“Manhunt for the other members of the gang is ongoing.
“On the same day, the command Crack squad raided criminal hideout in Ozoro community where two suspects namely Cyril Enishoke ‘m’ age 20yrs and Oghogho Joseph ‘f’ age 32yrs were arrested and large quantity of substance suspected to be Indian hemp was recovered from them.
According to the PPRO, investigation in this matter is ongoing.
“The CP assures Deltans that the command will do all it takes to see that the security will continue to improve and that the Command will sustain this tempo with a view to seeing that criminally minded people do not find it easy in the state, and that the state will be too hot for them.” The PPRO added.
